You may have heard stories about Jesus in church or from your family. Jesus is God's Son. He came to earth to teach people about God the Father and life in heaven. Jesus lived on earth a long time ago. He was kind and loving. He helped people who were sick and gave friendship to people who were lonely.

In heaven, there is no sin. When people sin, it hurts their friendship with God and separates them from God. Sin is choosing to do or say something that is against God's law. Sin is not an accident or mistake. Sin is disobeying God on purpose

Jesus wants to be your friend now and always. He wants to bless you, lead you, and be with you as you grow up. It's really easy to be friends with Jesus. He already wants to be friends with you; all you have to do is say "Yes!"

Hello boys and girls! Isn't it exciting to be in the 2nd grade? This is an awesome year for you! Not only are you a year older and a year wiser, but this year you are going to experience Jesus in a very special way through the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

The Bible teaches us that all people sin. Sin is a thought, word, or action that we freely do, even though we know it's wrong. When we sin, we hurt ourselves and we hurt others.

This is going to be a very special year for you and Jesus. Not only will you experience Jesus' forgiveness, but you will also receive Him in the Eucharist. Sin hurts our friendship with God, but the Eucharist brings us closer to Him. At the moment you receive the body and blood of Jesus in the Eucharist, He is very close to you. Receiving Jesus in the Eucharist strengthens your friendship with Him.

Have you ever played with a puppy? Puppies are so cute! They give lots of kisses and will follow you around wherever you go. They make great pets because they're lovable and can grow to be loyal companions. The love that you share with a puppy is happily returned and never runs out! In a similar way, God's love for you never runs out! Today, we're going to talk about how much God loves you and how special you are to Him.

Sometimes, people make bad choices and disobey God. A deliberate choice to disobey God is called sin. Sin is like running away from God. When we sin, it hurts our friendship with God and other people. Sin makes people greedy. It often leads to arguments, and then leaves people feeling sad and lonely. When we are mean and selfish to our friends, it hurts our friendship. The same is true with God

Sometimes we can distance ourselves from God by making bad choices. But God always gives us opportunities to make things right. We can restore our friendship with God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This sacrament is a gift to us because Jesus stands ready to forgive us when we are sorry for our sins. We can also strengthen our friendship with God by going to Mass every week and receiving Jesus in the Eucharist.

Do you like arts and crafts? Have you ever made something that you were really proud of? Maybe it was an art project at school, or maybe you cooked or built something with your mom, dad, or grandparent. It's fun to be creative and use your imagination. Drawing, painting, sculpture, cooking, and music are some ways that we can create something that no one has ever done before. And when we're finished, we take pride in our work and share it with those we love.

When we are finished creating a piece of art, we are careful not to break or damage it in any way. Because each person is God's handiwork, people need to be handled with care, too. That's why God gives us rules to follow so that we treat each other with kindness and respect. But sometimes, people choose to break those rules. We call this sin.

The Bible reminds us of what we learned: "Lord, you are our father; we are the clay and you our potter" (Isaiah 64:7). You are God's work of art, and He delights in you! God the Father sent His Son, Jesus, to save you from your sins and to restore your friendship with the Father. Even though Jesus lived on earth a long time ago, He is alive today and wants to be your best friend.

In school, we celebrate with parties, candy, crafts, and games. But the best part is the card exchange. It's so exciting to see your Valentine mailbox overflowing with cards. It's one of the few days when people go out of their way to share nice words with each other. "Be mine!" "You're sweet!" "You're totally cool!" And it's really awesome when someone writes something in their own words to let you know how special you are to them.

When people say kind things, it makes us feel good. But sometimes, people can be mean and say hurtful things. Have you ever had a friend who was mean to you? When people are mean and don't apologize, it's not likely that the friendship will last

When Jesus says "Be mine," He really means it. Jesus is inviting you into a very special and personal friendship. Jesus has a plan for your life, and He wants you to be happy. As we grow up, we learn that the happiness that comes from getting new things, belonging to a particular friend group, or making a sports team only lasts a little while. Jesus is the only person who gives us lasting happiness.

Do you know Jesus? Jesus is God's Son. He came to earth to teach people about God's love. Jesus was a friend to everyone. Jesus healed sick people, and He forgave people who made bad choices. Jesus taught people to love and care for each other.

It's really nice to have a good friend. Good friends like spending time together. They play, they share, and they help each other in times of need. When friends are nice to each other, it keeps their friendship strong.

God loves you and cares for you. God gave you the gift of Jesus. Jesus is the light of the world who takes away the darkness of sin. Jesus gave His life for your sins so that you can stay close to God.
